We started Quaandry on the belief that businesses shouldn’t compromise between great design and the execution of their business strategy.
We are entrepreneurs and designers, and we know how hard it is for companies to seamlessly balance the experience they want to provide, with the financial goals they must reach. We approach this balance with curiosity, starting each project completely blind in order to provide the best possible service, leaving behind all preconceptions that might harm a project’s development.
There is much to be gained through joining diverse backgrounds into our project’s development. We endeavour to have the widest variety of viewpoints, experiences and opinions in our teams. Our work relies heavily on the concept of “idea meritocracy” - letting the best ideas win. Young interns are welcome to criticise the work of seasoned designers - there is no place for seniority or ego when it comes to providing the best value to our customers.
Our diverse background is reflected in our founders as well. As a father and daughter duo, Mapa grew up in an environment full of design, creativity and innovation. She left home to study business engineering in Germany, then founded a company in Denmark and finally came home to ask her father, Ricardo, to help her make an impact in the world:
“I decided to leave my business engineering studies in Germany when I was on my last semester. I needed to focus on things that were important in the real world. Studying is more my father’s thing - he was an excellent student, and besides being a phenomenal designer, he is also a guest lecturer at university and has held roles such as director and dean of design departments in a couple of universities. That’s his world - he manages to combine academia and real-world applications in a way that blows my mind. I’m not built that way.
In my mind, there is a huge divide between the theory we have to learn by heart to pass exams in engineering studies, and the real world impact of being able to apply our combined knowledge to help an organisation that is using AI to revolutionise nature conservation, or a business that is joining jewellery and self-defence mechanisms for women who need to feel safe. I realised that by helping the companies and organisations I believe in, I can have an actual, real, tangible impact in the world. That’s what drives me, and it’s an adventure I knew my father would love to join me on.”
Today, we mix our knowledge in entrepreneurship, marketing and design to provide value for our clients. We help them gain clarity about their offer, culture and branding. We create strategies to position their brands, talk to their audience, reach their dream customers. Most importantly, we build partnerships and long-lasting relationships with our customers. It’s not about us providing a service, but about us working together to see them succeed and overcome the issues that were blocking their growth. We do it together.
We have had the great honour and privilege of working with amazing clients all over the globe. We love being able to call these wonderful people who are changing the world part of the Quaandry family.
